Constitution of Accessibility and Inclusive Practices Committee

ACADEMIC YEAR 2025-26

In accordance with the UGC Guidelines, the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPWD) Act, 2016, and the commitment to inclusivity as envisioned in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Krishna Chaitanya Institute of Science and Technology, Kakutur, constitutes an Accessibility and Inclusive Practices Committee (AIPC). The Committee aims to promote an equitable, inclusive, and accessible environment for all students, faculty, and staff especially persons with disabilities and other marginalized groups.

Objectives

  • To ensure physical, digital, academic, and social accessibility on campus.
  • To promote inclusive teaching-learning and assessment practices.
  • To address the needs of students and staff with disabilities or other challenges.
  • To sensitize the campus community on inclusive values and practices.
  • To align institutional policies with national regulations on disability and inclusion.

Scope

This committee shall support the inclusion of:

  • Persons with disabilities (PwDs) as defined under the RPWD Act, 2016.
  • Neuro divergent individuals (autism, ADHD, etc.).
  • Students from marginalized social backgrounds, including SC/ST/OBC/EWS/Minorities.
  • Gender and sexual minorities, and other disadvantaged groups requiring accommodation.

Tenure of Members

  • Members shall serve for a term of two academic years.
  • Student members will serve for one academic year.
  • Members may be re-nominated upon approval from the Chairperson.

Functions and Responsibilities

  • Conduct accessibility audits (physical infrastructure, digital platforms).
  • Recommend and monitor barrier-free facilities (ramps, signage, and assistive tech).
  • Facilitate inclusive academic accommodations (scribe support, extended exam time, screen readers).
  • Organize sensitization programs for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Coordinate with the Equal Opportunity Cell, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), and other related bodies.
  • Implement and monitor government schemes related to disability and inclusion.
  • Provide inputs for policy changes and curriculum reforms for universal design.

Meetings

  • The Committee shall meet at least once every semester.
  • Emergency meetings may be called as required.
  • The quorum for a meeting shall be 50% of the total members, including the Chairperson or Convener.
